FOP and Jim vs. Cleveland Browns

25 Apr

Jim recently played with the FOP charity basketball game against retired Cleveland Browns players, and Max and Ben (my little brohams) attended. I’m not entirely sure who won the game since it was a charity game for fun, but there were a lot of people, Jim signed autographs (holy famous, batman!) on basketballs, and Max and Ben ate a ton of sugar by way of Pez and slushies.

The video’s not great, since I was also explaining things and talking to Max, but there are some cute shots of Max and you can see some of the game and the pretty decent sized crowd that was there. I hope we can get the little brohams there earlier next year to get free Happy Meals and basketballs (and they let the kids play on the court, which is a very terrifying sight when all 500 kids are bouncing balls and screaming happily in close proximity to one another).

Good times. :)

Flip Cup Graduation Party

13 Jan

Still rummaging around in my old, unedited video footage and rooted up some footage from the graduation party I went to right after finishing my Masters last June (2008). We played quite a bit of flip cup at that party. ;)

First time playing Farkle

2 Jan

New Year’s Day was the first time I’ve played Farkle… Grandma kicked all of our asses (including Grandpa’s) both games, and Jim called it “some weird poor man’s version of Yahtzee.” Anyone else know this game? The rules were handwritten…

A quick glance at Wikipedia revealed that it IS a legitimate game, although called by several other names. Farkle, anyone?

Spore – Mac Fail

7 Sep

I’ve already heard all the lines from everyone about “Macs aren’t for gaming” and “Run BootCamp, duhhhh” but I’m still really pissed that Spore is being released today with the follow Mac requirements:

I bought my Mac in October of 2007. It’s not even a year old yet, and my GMA 950 video card is insufficient to play the game, which (for the Mac) is just a crappy Cider port.

Also, where is the iPhone version? It was due to launch simultaneously with the other versions today and it’s not in the App Store or iTunes.

Feisty. That’s how I’m feeling about Spore today, and yet I asked Jim to pick up the Nintendo DS version if he can find it at the store today. *sigh*

*ALSO – Amazon reviews have a lot of talk about ridiculous DRM involved in purchasing/using Spore.
