I am a Breaking Dawn hater/lover?

2 Aug

Yes that’s right. I HATE the books, but when the fourth book of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series was released today, but pre-ordered release-date shipping copy arrived in the mail and I plan on finishing it by the end of the weekend.

I hate the heroine, I find the idea of having sex with a completely ice cold vampire mildly distrubing even if the heroine is gagging for it, and the writing is sub-par at best, but I continue to read this stupid, stupid series of books. (Please don’t ask me why. I have no idea.)

To make matters even more hilariously bizarre, when Dianah and I went to Gary Vaynerchuk’s book signing in Hudson, I actually purchased a t-shirt the bookstore was selling for the new release. I am sick. I am truly sick. At least I can take comfort in the fact that this SHOULD be the end of the story. Please god let it be the end.

  • I can only imagine what will happen when all of the movies have been completed and released. Stepahie Meyer is a great writer and if you don't like her taste then why did you keep your nose in her books long enough to read and then write bad stuff about them?

Honestly i am actually really shocked at how many people are so offended at the contents of these books. I can only imagine what will happen when all of the movies have been completed and released. Stepahie Meyer is a great writer and if you don't like her taste then why did you keep your nose in her books long enough to read and then write bad stuff about them? You made that choice not her, so don't bash her writing because you chose to read her book. Get over it, we all wish we had a little bit more Bella and Edward in us sometimes... we are HUMAN after all. To all of you under the Twilight spell, enjoy it, it is a sweet escape :)
  • Oh wow. Shut up? Lol...

That was really just a bit over the top.
  • I heard the author interviewed on NPR a while back..and just today after reading YET ANOTHER thing on the internet about this book (on Jezebel), made the connection that it was the same person. Have you read her book "The Host"? *Goes to your GoodReads...* Oh you have...was that any good, because it sounded good?...oh wait, you have it on 'to-read'..Ok well I just added it to my 'to-read'. Let's read it together!

ANYWAY. Longest rambling comment ever. Also, Tim is a big fan of the Y: Last Man Standing. I, however, do not do teh comix. Much to his chagrin. He's trying to get me to read one about King Arthur because I dig on Alfred's myths.

    Done.

  • Y: Last Man Standing is amazing... it's just... I'm totally rarin' to get the 10th (and final) volume. :) I find that a lot of people who are geeky and arent into comics are reading the wrong comics (granted, some people honestly just aren't into it, but a lot of people just read the superhero stuff and don't get into the really dark or deep stuff).

I'll totally read The Host with you, because I'm curious, but I have to tackle Pillars of the Earth - I just got to it and I'm starting it tomorrow or tonight! :)

    No I get it.
It's like you love to hate it because it is so stupid.

I'm wondering how fans will take the last book. It's so stupid. It's WAY worse then the others books. I can get better plot on Fanfiction.com
  • Ironically, I LOVED the last book. Redeemed the entire series, gave me exactly what I wanted from the other three books and I'm happy with how it ended. :) Weird, but true!
  • Sweet God.

(I am so glad I am not alone in my feelings about these books. I feel EXACTLY the same.)

The sooner it's over the better.

Team Jacob all the way! 108 degrees of big, studly werewolf is definitely more appealing than a cold hard vampire. Discussion at work today- how much we all despise Bella. But we just keep reading them!
  • She's going to go with Edward and take the icy plunge to death. Screw college, she wants the cold ol' boy with an unnatural lust.
  • Bella is friggin beotch, I think Jacob acts like a brat a lot of the time, and Edward is... ice cold (that just creeps me out for some reason). AND I found like four reviews online by people like me, who can't stand the writing, the heroine, the whole idea, but keep reading them... it's bizarre.

Which reminds me, when are you going to get on GoodReads?? :)
